Jeddah – Following an impressive performance over the past year, Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors has announced further growth in sales of BMW and MINI vehicles in 2011 over 2010, achieving sales of 3,072 cars, a record for BMW Group sales in the Kingdom.
The exclusive importer of BMW Group vehicles in Saudi Arabia was amongst the top-performing regional markets coming second in the region in terms of number of car sold behind the UAE. The success signals the strength of the Saudi Arabian market and the continued demand for BMW Group cars in the Kingdom.
Contributing to Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors’ solid performance was the BMW 5 Series with 22% growth over 2010. The BMW 5 Series is a core product for BMW and combines sporting and elegant design, excellent comfort, the highest standard in efficiency in its class and sets the benchmark in driving dynamics and safety having achieved 5 stars in both the Euro NCAP and US NCAP vehicle safety assessment programmes.
The company's flagship, the BMW 7 Series, remained the highest volume selling model with 1,465 cars sold accompanied by the BMW X5, which achieved a growth of 16% selling 299 cars.
Additionally MINI’s popularity continues to grow in Saudi Arabia with 141% growth compared to 2010, which is the highest growth in the history of the brand in Saudi Arabia. Contributing to this impressive result was the new MINI Countryman, the fourth MINI model in the brand's portfolio and the first MINI to feature four doors, space for up to five passengers and an optional all-wheel drive.
Commenting on the company’s exceptional performance, Anees Jamjoom, Managing Director, Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors said: “We launched seven beautifully-designed and technologically-advanced new models during 2011, which helped drive our sales growth. The increase in our sales confirms the loyalty of our customers and the strength of the BMW brand in Saudi Arabia.”
“MINI also enjoyed a successful year in Saudi Arabia, with sales achieving outstanding results. One of the contributing factors to this growth was the launch of the new MINI Countryman, which opened up a new market segment for the brand and was warmly welcomed by Saudi MINI fans. Sales were further bolstered by the launch of the MINI Coupe towards the end of the year,” he added.
BMW Premium Selection also saw record growth in 2011 with a 145% increase, the highest growth among all importers in the BMW Group Middle East. BMW Premium Selection is the company’s pre-owned car programme that offers customers the same peace-of-mind motoring as if they were purchasing a new BMW.
Overall, BMW Group Middle East ended 2011 with an impressive 9% growth in sales compared to 2010. The UAE was the best performing market, contributing to 47% of the overall BMW Group Middle East sales, while Saudi Arabia was among the markets that also contributed significantly to the growth.
